During my internship, I observed many reading classes from experienced teachers. They taught really well, and I learned some teaching methods for reading class.

The first is guided reading. This teaching method encourages students to read the hint first - It’s usually a few lines of words or background information, and then they can continue reading the text. Students can gradually understand the general idea of the passage, and learn the text better thanks to the hints.

The second is intensive reading. It requires students to deeply explore the content of the text in order to fully understand the passage and be able to form a complete knowledge framework in their minds. They have to read the key sentences in the passage, then connect them with the context, and analyze the text in detail.

The third is role-play. It encourage primary students to simulate communicative environment to improve their English skills and build a fun and happy learning atmosphere. Students can act out different roles in the story to deepen their understanding.

As an alternative in secondary school, the retelling method requires students to retell the four elements of the story (characters, places, events and results)
